Dr. Marta Redrado, a post-doctoral fellow in the Inorganic Chemical Biology team at the Institute of Chemistry for Life and Health Sciences at Chimie ParisTech-PSL, has been awarded the prestigious Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale grant.

With this funding from the FRM, Marta Redrado-Domingo is seeking to develop a new iridium-based chemotherapy to treat ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer causes few symptoms, so it is often diagnosed at a late stage and associated with a poor prognosis: less than 43% survival at five years. First-line treatment is based on surgery and platinum-based chemotherapy. But many patients suffer serious side effects and develop resistance to this treatment.

Accompanied by Prof. Gilles Gasser, Marta Redrado talks about her research into innovative new treatments delivered directly to the tumor.
