A Key Moment for the Future of the EELISA Alliance

On May 13–14, 2025, École des Ponts ParisTech and Université PSL will host a strategic meeting of the EELISA Governing Board in Paris. Rectors, presidents, and directors of the member institutions will gather to reaffirm their shared commitment to advancing the integration of the alliance within the European Higher Education Area.

Alongside this major meeting, the EELISA Academic and Scientific Board, the Executive Board, and the Student Council will hold dedicated sessions focused on key issues such as mobility, pedagogical innovation, micro-credentials, and the development of EELISA Communities.

Strengthening European Cooperation in Higher Education.The event will also mark the ceremonial handover of the six-month Governing Board Chairship to École des Ponts ParisTech and Université PSL. It will provide an opportunity to review the commitments made during previous meetings, showcase concrete achievements from EELISA 2.0, and outline new strategic priorities, particularly in joint research.Board members will discuss the creation of a legal entity for EELISA to ensure long-term sustainability and will adopt a new enlargement strategy to welcome additional associated partners. A key highlight will be the signing of a joint statement on European Joint Degrees, reaffirming the Alliance’s collective ambition to reshape higher education in Europe.

Science, Society, and Culture at the Heart of the Event. A high-level roundtable titled “Shaping the Future with European Universities – Opportunities, Challenges, and Perspectives” will bring together representatives from the European Commission, the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research, and the French Permanent Representation to the EU. The meeting will conclude with a public screening of the award-winning documentary A Mirror of the Cosmos—recipient of the EELISA Special Mention 2024—on May 14 at 5PM at the École nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais (PSL). The film explores the Mar Menor lagoon, the first European ecosystem to be granted legal rights, and reflects on the intersections between environmental degradation, economic forces, and climate change. A discussion moderated by the EELISA Student Council will follow, featuring the filmmaker Isabelle Carbonell and invited researchers.

A meaningful and inspiring conclusion to an intensive series of working sessions dedicated to cross-border cooperation, innovation, and civic engagement.
