Well-defined Low-valent Cobalt complexes: Simpler and Easier to understand ?

In this presentation we will discusses about two main themes, the common thread of which is organometallic catalysis with cobalt. One focuses on the activation of E-H bonds (with E = C, Si, B, H …) followed by the functionalization of unsaturated compounds using well-defined low-valent cobalt complexes. The other is focused on the synthesis of nano-objects by organometallic route and their applications in catalysis and in the field of energy. The major concern common to these themes is the design and use of simple, well-defined, easy-to-access catalytic systems that can be used without adding additives and are reproducible. This work is based on the understanding of reaction mechanisms, whether in catalysis but also in the growth of nano-objects.
