Nicolas Sennequier takes over as Director of Chimie ParisTech – PSL
Nicolas Sennequier assumed his duties as Director of Chimie ParisTech – PSL on 13 April 2026. Appointed by the Board of Directors during its meeting on 29 January 2026 and subsequently formally appointed by decree of the Minister for Higher Education, Research and Space dated 24 February 2026, he succeeds Christian Lerminiaux, who had held the position since 2015.
A former student of the École normale supérieure – Université PSL, Nicolas Sennequier holds a PhD in molecular chemistry from Sorbonne University and is a graduate engineer from Mines Paris – PSL. He has nearly thirty years of experience in higher education, research, and public administration. He has held leadership roles at the PSL Foundation, IMT (Institut Mines-Télécom), the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), and Géodata Paris.
A strategic direction toward 2030: in a context shaped by competitiveness, resilience, and environmental challenges, he sets a course for the school toward 2030 aimed at strengthening Chimie ParisTech – PSL’s position among France’s leading schools in chemistry.
“
Chemistry is at the heart of our country’s reindustrialization: through innovation, it must make it possible to combine competitiveness and ecological transition. It is within this dynamic that I wish to position Chimie ParisTech – PSL,”
he stated upon taking office.
Two additional orientations are part of this strategic direction: strengthening the school’s anchoring within Université PSL and adapting the working environment to the institution’s ambitions.
Priorities in support of the school’s transformation include three cross-cutting themes: ecological transition, the development of artificial intelligence applications, and deeper integration of the school within Université PSL.
He intends to continue the transformations already underway, ensuring both continuity and consolidation, while contributing to the national and international visibility of Chimie ParisTech – PSL.
